Hello from Marg and the team 😀👋

Whats been happening?

Whats been happening for us the last few months you might ask?

The last few months have been nothing short of chaotic, including many client visits, a quick visit to Norco Milk, a road trip to Rockhampton for Beef Week, and not to be forgotten two overseas business trips.
In April, Marg was a key note speaker in Singapore for the FHA International Conference, held as part of Food and Hotel Asia.

Marg's topic was emerging technologies and how these effect labelling claims, particularly with regards to Organic and Non-GMO.  Singapore has launched a private organic standard, and Marg was able to highlight some of the gaps between International organic standards and the use of private standards.
Marg went on a road trip to Rockhampton at the start of May to attend Beef Australia 2018.

She had the opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. A very special congratulations to our dear friend Dalene from OBE Organic on winning the prestigious Beef Industry Achiever Award.

Marg appeared on Channel Seven News, see the video at our facebook page.
Organic Claims flushed down the toilet!

A massive win for the organic industry recently as the ACCC takes action on GAIA Skin Naturals for using misleading organic claims on products which contain synthetic chemical preservatives.

Australian Organic will continue working with the ACCC and all organic certification bodies to put a stop to deceptive marketing. Click here to read our formal press release on the outcome:
Marg recently visited Wauchope NSW to meet with dairy farmers who are learning how to convert to organic - well done to Norco Fresh Milk on hosting such a successful event.  🐮

Dairy processor Norco is chasing farmers as far south as Victoria to supply it with organic milk as part of its expansion into the sector.
Norco chairman and dairy farmer Greg McNamara said the price paid per litre of organic milk was significantly higher than regular milk.

In fact it can be a difference of around 30 cents a litre from what the organic farmer receives and what the conventional farmer is paid.

"Our organic farmers would be receiving around somewhere between 85 to 87 cents a litre on a yearly basis, whereas the conventional farmer is receiving somewhere around 57 to 58 cents a litre," he said. If you'd like more information on this, please email: marg@organicsystemsandsolutions.com
