Last week the CEO of Organic Systems and Solutions Marg Will met with representatives of the USDA (United States dept of Ag) in Washington DC to discuss options to improve market access for organic products for both USA and Australia.
Marg presented the new National Organic Mark, as well as outlining the current regulatory framework for Australia. Also attending the meeting was Colin Hunter, Minister-Councillor of Agriculture and Kiran Karanil Agricultural Advisor both based in Washington DC.
While in Washington DC, Marg also met with the regulatory team from the OTA (Organic Trade Association) to discuss the US Industries positions on trade and market access.
Marg reported that the meeting with the USDA went well and there is now a cohesive way for both countries moving forward.
Whilst in America, Marg also got to attend the 2018 Natural Products Expo West. Where she saw many interesting products and met some great new contacts.
Farmers have less than two weeks to have their say on proposed new vegetation management laws via a Parliamentary inquiry.
A snapshot of the changes to the laws is available on AgForce's website here: http://bit.ly/2DqtCDq
